Broken Glass
Lying on the floor
Broken glass
It is no more
Broken glass
Shattered into pieces
Dreams gone awry
Desperately she does cry
Tears fill each eye
As midnight draws nigh
Her stomach in knots
He has been caught
Adulterous and wayward
Perverse and froward
To her he pleads
As he moves toward
To explain his pain
The reason for his vain
Pursuit of pleasure
Which proved fruitless
Evil and erroneous
Deadly and disastrous
Meanwhile she
The desperate housewife
Wonders what
Will become of her life
Full of uncertainty
Grasping for her identity
Wandering what will be
The end of he
Who acted so foolishly
Will he err repeatedly
And whether or not
She will abide faithfully
Contemplating acting vengefully
Responding similarly
Trying to gather and collect herself
Totally, fully, and wholeheartedly
Endeavoring to integrate her parts
Parts all saying something different
Overcome his defiance and irreverent
Behavior which is a slap in her face
A private and public disgrace
Her heart has now been misplaced
Bitterness and gall does she now taste
Should she simply quit
And remove herself from the race
The endurance run of marriage
To which she said, "I do"
Or shall she forgive
And press on through?
So many options to consider too!
Considering the children
Counting the cost
Communicating with characters
Who have never been hurt or lost
Hardened hearts
Who don't understand
How then shall they counsel me
In a waste place and barren land
A destitute place of the heart
Where all joys seemingly depart
And my intellect is not so smart
As I try so hard to feel my way through
I ask you dear God, what shall I do?
