Sleep deprivation is a common ailment of people around the world.
With many people leading hectic lives, it is hard to get the most out of your sleep.
With some tools and resources though you can get better sleep quality.
In fact there is no such thing as too much sleep.
Sleeping is your body's natural process of healing and rejuvenation, so getting the most out of it is important for optimal health.
First off, eliminating or reducing exposure of artificial light is a key component.
By using some tools and tricks you can hack your sleep and get the most out of it.
You can limit artificial light in a few ways, by dimming lights, using a free program called "F.
lux" for your computer that dims the light at nighttime and lowers blue light.
If you watch television at night time you can wear "gunnar" glasses which are available online.
Gunnar glasses lower and filter the blue light emitted by televisions and computer screens, they are used by computer and gaming professionals.
Another important part of getting better sleep is making your room as dark as possible.
Getting dark curtains in your bedroom and covering up anything emitting lights such as power lights will darken your room considerably.
By making your room as dark as possible you can get more restful sleep and any light exposure can mess with your circadian rhythms and melatonin/serotonin cycle as well.
It is helpful to also establish a daily time that you go to bed.
This will not change from days you work to your weekend.

If you do need to change your circadian rhythm or need help falling asleep melatonin can work wonders.
Around 2-3 mg should be enough to help you fall asleep but also reset your circadian rhythms as well.
When falling asleep I find binaural beats can help enhance sleep, and help you fall asleep.
It's important to find high quality headphones to get the most out of the binaural beats.
Mind food hemisync is a good product that can enhance your sleep and you can find binaural beats online to help you fall asleep.
Using tylenol pm or at least the chemical in it as a sleep aid is the best option I have found.
Valerian root, and chamomile can help but aren't always dependable.
Before bed eating 150-200 calories of low glycemic food can enhance sleep as well.
During sleep your in a fasting period unless you eat so by eating some it will help your sleep quality, this is why people often wake up hungry or break your fast (breakfast).
There are some other tools such as zeo and zeo apps you can use to hack your sleep as well.
