Your Wedding Day is supposed to be the happiest day of your lives.
A lot of work goes into the planning of your wedding because when the day comes you want everything to go perfectly - you can hardly go back and do it again.
Remember that it is you and your partner who are getting married, you should decide on the type of wedding you want, the guest list and the venue.
By all means take advice and help from family and friends but don't forget that this is your day.
Don't feel pressured to spend money that you do not have - you don't want to start married life with an extra large debt.
Here in the UK the 'average' wedding now costs somewhere in the region of £20,000 - that is a huge amount ofmoney to spend on a single day and also totally unnecessary One of the first things you must decide is the budget for your wedding.
It might be boring, but you will be very grateful when it is all over that you set a budget and did not overspend.
Costs of your wedding can soon spiral out of control leaving you with a huge debt.
With a little forward planning you can have a wonderful day at a fraction of the money that is now forked out for the 'average' wedding.
The first thing you should be thinking about is the date of your wedding and plan ahead.
You probably want to get married during the summer months, but remember, so does everyone else and this takes careful planning a long way ahead.
If you are working with a small budget bare in mind that the prices always go up during the summer - a simple case of supply and demand.
May, June, July and August are the most popular months for weddings in the UK, therefore venues, photographers, florists etc.
can more or less charge what they like.
Caterers' eyes light up at the thought of a summer wedding - there is bound to be an extra premium on serving food in a marquee.
If you are on a tight budget consider a winter wedding - venues will be more readily available and cheaper, as long as you avoid the Christmas period.
Instead of serving dainty canapes and champagne you could offer your guests a warming casserole and mulled wine.
October would be another excellent month for a wedding - think of all the beautiful autumn colours that could be used for decorations.
Flowers are plentiful this time of year and are more robust than summer flowers and not too expensive.
When planning your wedding reception you need to consider the number of guest you wish to invite and choose the venue accordingly.
If you find, after extensive research, that all venues are too expensive you may need to reduce the number of guest you invite.
You could, of course, hold the wedding at home, if your house is suitable.
This will save you a great deal of money and gets over the problem of booking a couple of years in advance.
If you have guests coming from out of town they probably need an overnight stay and you should consider whether there is suitable accommodation nearby if you cannot put them up yourself.
If there are children among your wedding guests you should plan how they will be entertained.
It is going to be a long day and small children have a short attention span.
It might be worth hiring an entertainer to play games and do activities with them or to hire a bouncy castle to amuse your little guests.
Children who are having fun are usually no trouble and just enjoy the day along with everyone else.
