How to Design Your Own Veil
- 1). Purchase 52- to 54-inch-wide tulle a few inches longer than the final length you would like your veil to be. There are several different kinds of tulle that you can purchase, so make sure that you look through all the tulle to get the right color, weight and feel for your veil.
- 2). Fold the tulle in half lengthwise. Use a large circular object --- such as a cake pan or dinner plate --- to trace a curved line at the bottom on the open side of the tulle.
- 3). Cut along the line you traced to create a curved bottom on your veil.
- 4). Push the needle and thread through the tulle 2 inches from the top of the veil and gather the material to create a pleated effect.
- 5). Sew the gathered portion of the veil around a hair comb or hair piece.
