How to Decorate Your Reception Hall
- 1). Start by looking around the room. Measure all the spaces in the room to decide how you're going to decorate it. Take careful note of any special spaces such as corners and high ceilings. Write down these measurements on a piece of paper.
- 2). Begin the decorating process by starting from the top down. Start with the ceiling. All ceilings should be clean and easily seen. Hang crepe paper from the ceiling to create elegant rosettes. Add balloons and silk ribbons from the wall to create the feel of a tent.
- 3). Decorate the walls. Add photographs to the walls. Use meaningful photographs that speak of the party you are holding. If you are holding a party to celebrate a first birthday take pictures of the baby in question. Place them on the wall. Add items that reflect the baby such as baby shoes. Place a poster with the baby's name on and the words Happy Birthday next to it. If the child has any siblings note their names and ages as well.
- 4). Decorate the tables. Add pretty table cloths to the tables where you are holding the reception. Create centerpieces from flowers in nice vases. Use colors that reflect the party if possible. If you are holding the party in the spring use pinks and baby blues. If you are holding the party in the winter use crisp whites to emphasize the season.
- 5). Decorate a special table for the guest of honor. If possible set aside a special table for the person or people being honored. Set aside specific seats for their use. Top with balloons and streamers to make it clear this is for a specific person. Write up a sign celebrating the occasion. Ask others to sign their names and good wishes to the sign.
