50 Non-Candy Favorites to Hand Out on Halloween
Ready for Halloween? All month long you've been getting ready with the parties, costume parades, and activities, but now the big day is actually here! For a preschooler who may not remember too much from prior years, Halloween is a fun day filled with some pretty awesome things (for kids and grown-ups alike!): dressing up in fun costumes with friends and family, and then going door-to-door for tricks or treats and getting candy and other goodies.
But what some parents forget is that for many little ones, giving out treats to trick-or-treaters can be a lot of fun too. They get to see all the different costumes and answer the door (which on many days, is probably a no-no).
This year, instead of giving out candy, set a good example by handing out non-candy treats to any trick-or-treaters that come by. At first you might feel like a grinch, but there are a lot of good reasons to give away treats other than candy: candy is expensive (you may find a good deal buying goodies in bulk from places like Oriental Trading or Party City); non-edible treats tend to last a lot longer than candy (in my house they do anyway); and your dentist and doctor will thank you.
