How to Safely Clean a Bird Bath
- 1). Make a bleach solution in the quart spray bottle by adding 2 oz. of bleach to the empty container and fill the remaining space with fresh water.
- 2). Attach the garden hose to the outdoor spigot and the spray nozzle to the end of the hose. Turn the water on and stretch the hose out to the birdbath.
- 3). Thoroughly spray out any old and dirty water from the birdbath basin. You can remove a lot of the heavy debris with the spray nozzle action of the moderate pressured water. While you are at it you can also hose down the pedestal and surrounding vegetation with the garden hose. This will help in diluting any of the bleach solution from the spray bottle.
- 4). Spray the surface of the basin down with the bleach water solution from the quart sprayer.
- 5). Use the plastic scrub brush and scour the inside surface of the basin in all areas. Use the hose and rinse the dirty contents out of the birdbath. Again rinsing down the pedestal and the surrounding area.
- 6). Repeat the spray solution application and scrub the basin again. Perform a final rinse to remove the bleach water from the basin.
- 7). Fill the birdbath with fresh water and again hose down the pedestal of the birdbath and the surrounding vegetation.
