How To Get A Good Nights Sleep?
It may sound simple but for some people getting a good nights sleep is never easy.
Insomnia can be the result of many issues in your life, some mental and some physical.
There are several simple things that you can do to get a good nights sleep tonight.
1.
) Read a good book before going to sleep, and avoid the television or using the computer just before bed.
2.
) Get into a "Sleep Routine" ensuring that you go to bed the same time every day, and wake at the same time every day.
Do not sleep in, in the mornings, even if you have had little or no sleep.
3.
) Avoid bright lights in the hour leading up to your bedtime, and use dimmers or bedside lamps rather than your main room lights.
4.
) Relax to some calming music (Classical music is good - It works well with putting babies to sleep, and so it does for adults) whilst reading your book.
5.
) Try and go to sleep at the same time as your partner to avoid you waking each other up.
6.
) Try and make your sleeping environment as relaxing as possible, shutting windows to keep out noise from outside.
7.
) Avoid eating spicy foods late on at night.
8.
) In fact you should avoid eating anything after 6 pm if possible and certainly no later than 9 pm otherwise your body will still be trying to actively digest the food whilst you are actually wanting it to go to sleep.
9.
) Try fit in half an hours moderate to heavy exercise to tire your body out, but do not do this too late in the evening as if you do your body will still think it is running fast, so to speak.
10.
) If you live in a noisy city centre try ear plugs.
They also keep the noise of birds "The dawn chorus" out in Summer.
11.
) If the light wakes you early each morning in Summer or keeps you awake at night in Summer then try an airline style eye mask.
These are readily available from most major chains of chemists or pharmacies.
12.
) Lastly my favourite tried and tested one is to use "Sleep Cones".
They are an acupressure device that puts a light pressure on to your wrist.
These work like a dream for me every time I use them.
Again they are readily available in chemists and pharmacies.
