Zero Tolerance

• People younger than 21 years old are not legally allowed to purchase alcohol or consume it. Therefore in all states, all people younger than 21 who are caught driving with any alcohol in their systems will be arrested, regardless of whether they are legally drunk.
  
  

Impaired Judgment

• People who consume enough alcoholic beverages to get drunk might experience slurred speech and problems with their coordination. They might have trouble standing and experience a delay in reaction time that will put them and others on the road in danger should they get behind the wheel of a car.
  
  

Life-Threatening Risks

• People who drink and drive put their own lives and the lives of others on the road in danger. If a drunk driver causes someone in the car with them or in another car to get hurt or killed in an accident that occurs as a direct result drinking and driving, that person will be imprisoned for years or even for life, depending on the law.
