• Capturing dust is the best way to ensure that you are not just moving it around, and vacuum cleaners are an effective way of capturing dust. Steam cleaners not only remove dirt and dust, they can kill the dust mites and bacteria that feed on it. Steam cleaners, like vacuums, have attachments that make it easier to reach cracks, and many steam cleaners come in smaller sizes, making them easy to maneuver into small spaces. Clean Wipes

• Clean wipes are towelettes that come pre-soaked in cleaning detergents. They come with a variety of detergents, including window cleaner, multipurpose or dusting detergents. It is best to use dusting wipes because the chemicals used attract dust particles when cleaning and help to make the surface dust-proof. Use clean wipes to remove dust from cracks; the wipes suppress dust and keep it from becoming airborne. This method is less desirable than a vacuum or steam cleaner because you may have to use several wipes and it may also be difficult to reach the cracks.
  
  

Microfibers

• Cloths or dusters that use microfibers can be used to effectively remove dust from cracks. Microfibers trap and store dust in the millions of pores in the cloth; the dust can only be removed by washing the cloth. Wetting the fiber with water or spraying it with a dusting detergent before wiping suppresses the dust and prevents it from escaping. Microfiber cleaning cloths can be easily manipulated to reach deep into cracks to remove dust.
