Kullu Manali is a beautiful hill station full of interesting places in picturesque locations. While on a trip to this hill station, you will undoubtedly have a long list of top places to visit in Manali. Make sure you include the lovely lakes in your list; they are a spectacular sight with lots of natural beauty. Some of the lakes in Kullu Manali that you just cannot miss include:

Prashar Lake: At a height of about 2730 m above sea level, surrounded by snow clad mountain, is a beautiful water-body with deep blue crystal clear waters and a small floating island. There is a temple nearby which is dedicated to sage Prashar who is believed to have meditated here.

Location: 70 kmts south of Kullu.

Dashir Lake (Also known as Dashaur and Sarkund): The water of Dashir is so clear that you can almost see the bed of the lake. The surrounding area has rugged mountains and waterfalls. Its depth is about three to four meters. The locals consider the water-body very pious as they believe that its water is healing in nature. It is located at a height of 4,270 meters above sea level.

Location: Near Rohtang Pass.

Bhrigu Lake: It is very sacred for the people and is named after sage Bhrigu. At an altitude of 4325 m above sea level, it is about three to four meters deep. It is no doubt, a beautiful water-body but its beauty cannot be witnessed all year round as it is covered with snow throughout the winter season. It lies on various trek routes in the region.

Location: East of Rohtang Pass, 6 kmts from Gulaba village.

Seruvalsar Lake: At an altitude of 3100 m above sea level, the Seruvalsar water-body is a famous tourist attraction in Himanchal Pradesh. Surrounded by dense forests, the place is definitely one of the best places in the region. The green surroundings all around make it a good picnic spot.

Location: 20 kmts from Ani, towards Jalori Pass.

Mantalai Lake: Mantalai is situated at an altitude of 4115 m above sea level. From here you can see the Mantalai Glacier which feeds the Mantalai lake which further acts as the source of the Parvati river. The place is great for trekkers. One can even go up towards the Mantalai Glacier but not without a guide. There is no path beyond the water-body towards the glacier and so moving ahead without a guide is not advisable.

Location: Peak of the Himalayas at the end of the Parvati Valley.
