    Special Care Tips

    • The Natural Handyman website recommends protecting wicker with a clear coat of varnish every few years. Painted wicker should be repainted to retain vibrant color.

    Outdoor Use

    • While natural wicker furniture holds up well in humidity, it is not recommended as outdoor furniture. It can be damaged by rain and dew.

    Refinishing Tips

    • Use a liquid stripper to strip old paint from the wicker. According to the Refinish Furniture website, do not use a stripper on unpainted, natural wicker. Prime wicker furniture prior to painting. Spray paint approved for wicker use is recommended since it can easily get inside the textured crevices of wicker.
