New York Fashion Week Wrap

Before the fashion pack and this journalist, jump the pond for LondonâEUR(TM)s frock festival, hereâEUR(TM)s a look at the good and bad from the front row and runways of New York Fashion Week.
BEST-DRESSED
Jessica Alba had her stylist Brad Goreski working overtime managing to change her hair and make-up looks faster than you can say Queen B. From dark denim and leopard print on day one to floaty, royal blue finale Ms Alba gets an A for front row effort.
WORST DRESSED
This one goes to the rock stars: Justin Bieber turned up to the Y-3 show wearing those ridiculous drop crotch leather pants, with those ridiculous over-sized sunglasses and that ridiculous hair cut. Rihanna didnâEUR(TM)t do much better teaming an open floral sundress with polka dot suspenders and pony skin creeper sneakers.
AUSSIE HAT TRICK
Popular local labels Zimmermann, Sass & Bide and Dion Lee all showed on the official schedule in New York presenting standout collections full of antipodean cool.
BEST BABY
Anna Wintour doesnâEUR(TM)t take her sunglasses off for many people and smiles at even fewer but little Harper Beckham turned the US Vogue Editor in to Anne Geddes at her mother Victoria BeckhamâEUR(TM)s fashion show. Perched on her dad DavidâEUR(TM)s knee, the youngest Beckham had the satorialised Devil cooing and gave Suri Cruise a style smack down in her white sunray pleat dress and ballet flats.
BEST USE OF PROPS
A runway filled with scores of sand dunes, surfboards and lifeguard high chairs turned Tommy HilfigerâEUR(TM)s Pier 94 show into the set of Baywatch. Models wandered through an endless summer in futuristic sports luxe inspired outfits that were more at times more Munich than Malibu.
Honourable mention goes to designer Jen Kao who matched her models straight-out-of-the-70âEUR(TM)s, hippy hair with the coat of a pack of Afghan dogs that walked the runway on white leather leads.
BEST MODEL MOMENT
They donâEUR(TM)t make them like Naomi Campbell anymore. The model looked ageless as she made a surprise close for Diane Von Furstenberg wearing a gold micro mini. The veteran designer presented one of the weekâEUR(TM)s best collections full of beautiful bold prints and more desert safari references than an Anthony Mingella film.
CRAZIEST SHOW
Fashion canâEUR(TM)t all be pretty and wearable; someone has to do interesting and ugly. And that someone is Thom Browne. The designer obviously had a big bowl of crazy for breakfast before he unleashed his spring summer collection on the fashion world. The models looked like they had stepped straight off the set of the Hunger Games wearing all white architectural clothes that the citizens of The Capital would covet. White hair, white John Lennon glasses, powdered faces, smudged lipstick and gigantic wings âEUR¦ it was runway theatre at its kookiest.
BEST SHOW
The best fashion shows are joyous ones and iconic New York label DKNY produced an incredible 25 year anniversary celebration. The brands famous letter logo was reimagined in hoodies and dresses while the humble high top was turned into a cool moon boot trainer. Singer of the second, Rita Ora walked the runway and later sang at their exclusive downtown party.
GOLF CLAP GOES TOâEUR¦
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen deserve a round of virtual applause for genuinely jumping the Slashie shark. No longer are they actor/singer/designer with their label The Row turning out one of the most original and accomplished collections of the week.
TRENDS TO GET EXCITED ABOUTâEUR¦
Volume. ItâEUR(TM)s everywhere. The bigger the better. From Zac PosenâEUR(TM)s layered meringue gowns to Victoria BeckhamâEUR(TM)s cake dress silhouettes with bell sleeves and full skirts are one of next summerâEUR(TM)s prettiest trends. We also loved the wash of French navy, the return of vintage florals and the slinky sports shape of the early 1990âEUR(TM)s.
PREPARE YOURSELF FORâEUR¦
Blazer vests. Essentially theyâEUR(TM)re just an over-sized jacket with no sleeves. Jason Wu, Helmet Lang and Victoria Beckham (design pictured below) all showed them in multiple forms. IâEUR(TM)m tipping that they will be next seasonâEUR(TM)s cape. formal dresses for women
