You wanting to turn your hobby or joy of life into a business may sound great, but it could be the big mistake that will doom your business. Avoid the expectation of setting up a website and hiving people run to your business, it will not happen. Building an online business will take time, and much dedicated effort. Avoid any and all get rich quick concepts, and most importantly avoid press one button instant success gimmicks, because that's all they are.

The internet is not magic, but just another marketing format. Marketing formats take a business model and step by step promote it to the right audience. This promotion process just like in an offline business takes both time and financial resources.

Avoid getting information from many different sources, because as much as they may sound good, they are not in harmony with each other, and will most likely cause you to make the wrong decisions. Try to get everything about market research, building a website, or marketing your business, all from one proven source.

Avoid borrowing funds to start your business. The advantage of an online business is that you can start with very little capital, and use your time and effort as your investment resource. Building your business will take time, so you may want to keep any other source of income until your online business starts making money. Avoid thinking that an online business will make money in a matter of a week or a month, because most likely it will not.
