Much to my delight, this episode did not start off with Denzel and Mirjana ripping each other’s clothes off. Or showering together. No, this time Denzel was with Will, and they were having a much-needed heart to heart on the patio. Fully clothed.

Denzel finally said he’s sorry and blamed his rude comments on his old-school upbringing. Saying you’re a product of your environment is a bit of a cop out, but at least he’s working on it.

Will seemed 60% pleased.

After the warm fuzzies were out of the way, there was the obligatory shot of Denzel and Mirjana in bed (with beer). Cue snuggles and a big confession: Mirjana is falling in love!

The Challenge

As you know, the winner of this cycle gets a spread in Nylon Magazine. This week, the models finally had a chance to impress Marvin Scott Jarrett, founder of this awesome magazine. The models had to divide into three groups of three and come up with a fun and effortlessly cool photo shoot featuring clothes from Kelly Cutrone’s own clothing line, Electric Love Army.

Yes, Kelly Cutrone launched a fashion label. It might seem a little weird at first—I mean, the woman is all black hair and black clothes. All of the time. But if you dig a little deeper, it makes sense. First, she has a thick skin. You need that in the design world. And, she has over 25 years experience in the fashion industry. And when you pair her up with Chris Burch (Tori’s ex), a venture capitalist with fashion experience to boot, you’ve got yourself a fun, affordable line that will bring out the Joan Jett in every woman.

The models had 30 minutes to create their head-to-toe looks and create a fashion image worthy of Nylon Magazine. Unfortunately for most teams, that meant a whole lot of nakedness. Shirtless guys, shirtless girls—it got so bad that a horrified Kelly had to remind everyone that people in Nylon wear clothes.

That was just one of many Kelly-freakouts. She lost it when Matthew wanted Raelia to look like a “sexy high school slut” and when Denzel slathered himself in body oil and tried to put on a shirt right after. And again, when Denzel never did put a shirt on. And when Keith and Adam forgot their shirts. See a trend?

Shei finally looked amazing in a photo and won this challenge hands down. Lenox was the “least interesting and most disappointing of the bunch,” but then again she was paired with Denzel and Mirjana. It’s not easy being a third wheel, especially when Mirjana cares more about canoodling than impressing Tyra Banks.

Work Behind the Scenes as a Fit Model

Back at the house, while Mirjana was busy blaming her low score on her all-consuming love for Denzel, Denzel was busy telling everyone that he doesn’t want a relationship with Mirjana. Mirjana found out and kicked him out of the Lover’s Suite. I’d tell you more, but I was too distracted by the giant hickey on Mirjana’s neck to remember what they said.

The Photo Shoot

Remember when all the models spat in cups? Well, the DNA results are in! And the biggest surprise was that Will and Denzel could be distantly related. Both have Finnish, Scandinavian and European Jewish blood running through their veins. How convenient. I have a feeling that Tyra made the Ancentry.com folks work day and night until they found a common bond between Will and Denzel, but whatever. Reality TV wouldn’t be reality TV without a little bit of producer interference.

This week’s photo shoot concept was “DNA results meets the future of science.” In other words, the models were styled to reflect their individual genetic makeup and then photographed with an androgynous robot, played by Cory Wade Hindorff (of course).

The tricky part of this shoot was that the models had to be in love with this robot. Denzel was a little uncomfortable with the whole man-love situation, Will of course rocked it, and Matthew was so into the robot that I expected it to ask for his number. And dear sweet Lenox finally came out of her schoolgirl shell and looked sexy for the first time (as sexy as you can be with a robot in a bathtub, anyway).

Mirjana was too broken-hearted to function, but that doesn’t matter because Denzel sent her some cute text messages and they got back together. Sigh.

The Elimination

Either the DNA results gave the models an extra boost or Tyra put something in the water, because there were tons of great shots this week.

Lenox earned 10’s from all the judges this week (I’m officially Team Lenox) and Will was smizing and loving it. Near perfect. Mirjana, Adam, Matthew and Keith all had great faces, and Raelia looked incredibly lean and tall. Shei was average, but that doesn’t matter because she killed the challenge.

Modeling Portfolios - Snapshots or Professional Photos?

Denzel’s arms got the most flack this week. Those rippling muscles are more athlete than model and the judges told Denzel to run laps around the house until they shrink. For real.

Lenox won this week again, which means she’s almost made the Tyra Suite her permanent home. Mirjana and Matthew were in the bottom two, and Matthew was sent home to Colorado.

Next week, Betsey Johnson shows up, the models walk Style Fashion Week, and Mirjana gets scrappy. Again.
