There is nothing like the unusual red tones of some of the modern Heuchera cultivars.
Below is a description of some of the best red Heuchera for the southeast U.
S.

'Beaujolais'.
A 10" tall by 18" wide clump.
Silvery leaves, overlain with a autumn red cast and contrasting darker red veins.
The plants are topped with spikes of small creamy flowers.

'Brownies'.
Contains genes from the heat-loving Heuchera villosa, along with a number of other species.
A vigorous clump to 2'+ wide by 1' tall.
Hairy olive-brown leaves.
Tall spikes of small white flowers.

'Caramel': This selection loves hot weather.
The 1' tall by 2' wide hairy clumps emerge with butterscotch foliage which changes to peachy-orange as the season progresses.
Topped in summer with tall spikes of small white flowers.

'Chocolate Ruffles': The leaves are a deep chocolate brown, with vivid purple undersides.
The leaves are deeply cut and heavily ruffled on the edges.

'City Lights' PPAF: Bronze/brown foliage, yellow flowers, sun tolerant.

'Creme Brulee': Sun and heat tolerant.

Clumps are composed of peachy-orange leaves that brighten as the season progresses.
22" tall, dark red flower scapes, lined with tiny, creamy yellow flowers.

'Crimson Curls' PP 13,729: Incredibly ruffled foliage.
The dark burgundy-red leaves are purple underneath and radiate out to form a perfect 18" wide evergreen clump.

'Georgia Peach' PP 19,375: A 2' wide clump of large peachy-red leaves, each highlighted by darker red veining.
The 14" tall clumps are topped in late summer with 30" spikes of small white flowers.
Although Heuchera villosa hybrids are much more tolerant to adverse growing conditions, we still recommend a well-drained soil.

'Mardi Gras' (pink marble): Multiple foliage colors that change as the plant grows.
Foliage may be marbled in bronzy-purple, coral, orange, pink, green and silvery pewter.
Every leaf may be slightly different in color.
Creamy white flowers.

'Marmalade' PP 15,945, PVR: Heuchera 'Marmalade' is a unique hybrid.
Each 18" wide clump is composed of glossy foliage that emerges red and changes to amber-yellow.
The clumps are topped by 14" spikes of red flowers in spring.

'Peach Flambe' PPAF, PVR: Flaming red-orange new foliage.
In spring, the brilliant, 14" wide clumps are topped with 16" spikes of white flowers, and in fall, the foliage finally subdues to a peachy plum.

'Persian Carpet': This dazzling coral bell has leaves that are a blend of "Persian carpet" colors, including red, purple, silver, and a number of other metallic shades.

'Plum Pudding' EU 3330: The glossy burgundy foliage with silvery netting between the veins is so dazzling, it really can't be described.
The flowers are insignificant compared to the foliage.

'Raspberry Ice' PPAF: This sister seedling to the popular Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' bears lovely silvery foliage with dark purple veins and a dark burgundy overlay.
Each vigorous 2' wide clump is topped in late spring with 2' tall spikes of large pink flowers.

richardsonii grayana: This species is one source of the color red in modern hybrids.
Generally though, these deciduous plants have green leaves with 7-9 lobes.
The asymmetric greenish-white flowers are 1/8" long.

'Ruby Ruffles': This hybrid is one of my favorites of the hybrid coral bells (a cross between Heuchera 'Ruffles' and Heuchera 'Pewter Veil').
The gorgeous ruffled leaves are dark ruby purple with a lovely silver overlay in the center of each leaf.

'Ruby Veil': This coral bell is truly a magnificent specimen.
The large foliage to 7" across is dark ruby violet with a silvery grey venation covering the entire leaf.

'Southern Comfort' PP 20,364: Vigorous growing 14" tall by 2' wide evergreen clumps produce an abundance of amber-colored leaves that emerge peachy-orange.
As the night temperatures cool, the entire plant takes on a coral-orange hue.

villosa 'Bronze Wave': Massive 18" tall by 2' wide clumps.
Very hairy, large, 8" wide, dark bronze leaves with a contrasting purple back.
In late summer, the 2' tall flower spikes are laden with small whitish-pink flowers.

18") Heuchera of any color are a lovely addition to the shade garden but the red ones are especially alluring.
