How to Clean & Protect Vinyl Graphics
- 1). Spray graphics with water to remove any loose debris or dirt. Use water that is less than 120 degrees F and spray from a distance of at least 12 inches to avoid damaging the vinyl. Spray straight onto the graphic rather than at an angle so that the water does not cause the vinyl to lift up. Never use water pressure that is higher than 1,200 psi.
- 2). Remove stuck-on dirt with a gentle cleanser, staying within a pH range of 3 to 11. Avoid cleansers that contain alcohol or other harsh chemicals. Liquid dish detergent or a mild soap made for washing vehicles are the best options. Apply the cleanser with a clean sponge or cloth and rinse thoroughly when finished. Start cleaning at the top of the graphic and work your way down.
- 3). Apply wax on vinyl decals with a light hand, using a thinner layer than you would on other parts of the surface. The wax provides the graphics with an extra layer of protection. Avoid any formula that contains solvents or harsh chemicals that will damage the vinyl. Apply the wax according to the directions on the packaging since each type of wax is different.
