My Thoughts And Comments After Visiting Milwaukee, WI
My vacation time has finally arrived and I have decided to go somewhere not too far from my hometown - city of Chicago.
Flying to the other states are more expensive and I hate being in the crowded airports, waiting for the plain, which sometimes maybe running late.
My father used to take trains even to a far far destinations, but I am not the one to sit in one place & watch everything flying through the train's windows.
My own car is the easy way of transportation.
When people drive their vehicles - they can stop when they want, go out-of-the-way to see something that caught their interest and not be bugged by other passengers on the plains, trains or even ships.
My destination this time - Milwaukee, WI.
This city is located about 90 miles north of Chicago, near the Lake Michigan shores, it was established back in 1846 and now it has around 953,000 people living in the downtown & suburban areas.
The first stop that me and my friends took was a Potawatomi bingo casino.
It's an amazing venue - it offers thousands of slots, a good variety of table games, restaurants & bars.
Open 7 days a week, 24 hours - Potawatomi has an entertainment night for any day of the week.
If you like, you can enjoy your evening at the Northern Lights Theater - some of the guests were Etta James, Willie Nelson, Ringo Starr, Bonnie Raitt, Lewis Black, Jonny Lang, Chris Isaak, Jay Leno, Tony Bennett, Don Rickles, etc.
You can buy tickets with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and cash.
Bar 360 ( at the center of the casino ) is open until 2 - 2.
30 AM and offers domestic pints for just $2.
50, Margaritas & Long Islands - $5, signature drinks like "The Jack Pot", "Rum Runner" will improve your mood dramatically.
Before we went to have a fun time at the Potawatomi casino, we have booked a hotel room at Americas Best Value Inn Milwaukee ( 1716 West Layton Avenue ) - a special deal for only $30 ( plus taxes ) per night! You can't beat that price.
This establishment offers a free airport shuttle & free Wi-Fi Internet, secure parking area.
Fitness room and outdoor pool were very inviting, the next door restaurant had quite a few seniors, as they probably had a good deal of discounts for their meals.
Coffee-makers & cable TV are also welcome features.
Convenient place and bargain prices are very important for many travelers.
The customer service representative greeted us with a smile & we were pleased to get more information about our stay.
The only negative thing was the busy highway, which seemed a bit noisy, however after entering our rooms we were surprised how clean they were and very quiet.
The windows were facing the middle yard towards the outdoor pool & plants.
The before mentioned family restaurant is accessible through the main lobby & it's open until 10 PM.
We were pleased with the food portions and prices were affordable.
The exterior of the hotel could be improved, but that's their future project.
The next day after the casino fun night we went to see the Lake Michigan shoreline.
It's a beautiful park, where people spend hours of running, walking or jogging.
Museum of science is near by - a great place to visit & educate yourself.
If you're a Harley-Davidson fan - don't forget to visit the museum of this well-known brand at 400 Canal St, open 10 AM to 6 PM.
Tickets for adults: $16, children - $10.
You will see thousands of motorcycles, learn to ride them & have a few hours of fun.
So my last word - Milwaukee, WI was an interesting city to visit.
There is always something to do & see, cheap hotels, great time at casino & local bars/restaurants - everyone will have a nice trip.
