When you want to propose, travel to the Visitor's Center at the 1920s train station in town that is now a museum. Workers and volunteers at the museum dress in costume and tell stories about the station's history. Instead, call ahead and inform a worker of what your plans are. When the two of you arrive at the train station, have a worker dressed in a Western Union Telegram delivery outfit walk past announcing a telegram for your significant other. Picnic Proposal

• Visit a national park, such as Shenandoah National Park, for a day of hiking, bicycling, horseback riding or camping. Most hiking trails include observatory decks that provide benches or tables and chairs for resting. Plan ahead by choosing a trail that won't be as crowded as others. Have a friend or volunteer at the park reserve a table at one of these observatory decks and wait there until arriving. Place a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice on the table along with two glasses, or place a picnic basket full of your favorite foods on the table. Lead your significant other to this deck and sit down at the table. Serve the delicacies yourself or have a hired helper do it.
