How Panic Alarms Can Be A Woman"s Best Friend

There was a true story recently about a woman who just came out of a shopping mall and was headed to her car to put her packages away and go home.
It was broad daylight when this happened.
A man approached her from behind and asked her if she could spare some change.
Panhandling is illegal in a lot of areas, but mall parking lots isn't one of them apparently.
She turned around and saw a disheveled man heading her way.
The hair on the back of her neck stood up and her instincts told her that she was in imminent danger.
She already had her keys in her hand and attached to her key ring was a 2 inch long device that when activated, sounded 120 dB alarm.
She told the man to back off and at the same time activated her personal alarm.
The man immediately left the scene and passersby that were over 100 yards away at the time, came to her assistance to see if she was okay.
That's what panic alarms or as some call them personal protection alarms do.
They frighten away assailants (or potential assailants) and draw attention to your situation should you feel threatened.
Personal safety alarms and panic button alarms are small hand-held devices that make an ear-shattering sound when activated.
They are battery-operated and are usually activated with the press of a single button.
They can emit a sound as loud as 130 decibels, which is the loudest legally permissible.
One personal safety alarm made by Mace brand sounds like a boat horn using compressed gas.
Another one is an electronic whistle that when activated makes the shrill sound of a whistle that can be heard from as much as a quarter of a mile away with a 120 decibel noise.
Panic alarms and personal protection alarms are a woman's best friend because they're an inexpensive way for her to defend herself in the event of an attack.
Assailants do not like attention.
That's why most of their attacks are done in dark, secluded places.
A personal safety alarm can provide a nonlethal way for women to defend themselves.
They are one of several self-defense products that provide a nonlethal alternative to the deadly force of a handgun.
They are inexpensive and easy to use but most of all, they are effective at providing personal protection and personal safety especially for women.
