P Is for paranormal--still
There's no new way to say it, except possibly en Francais, the language of love. Paranormal is le dernier cri in the romance category-its hold on readers and publishers alike defies any logic or explanation. In its first year it was a phase, then it became a definite trend. Now, it's a sea change, with no evidence that the tide's waning. So, sure, everybody agrees about the Pword, but what, exactly, is its appeal- why is this romance genre so, er, bloody popular?..
Columns of fire
A strange phenomenon witnessed by crew of an American vessel...
Keeping an eye out for spotsy Sasquatch
Hunting for the elusive Sasquatch is difficult enough, but rain makes it even harder. Billy Willard, 41, the director of the Manassas-based Sasquatch Watch of Virginia, said the din of rain makes it impossible to hear anything else. And the rain keeps animals--even Bigfoots--under shelter...
Attempting a composite Jersey Devil profile
The Jersey Devil, sometimes called the Leeds Devil, is a legendary creature or cryptid said to inhabit the Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey. The creature is often described as a flying biped with hooves, but there are many variations.[1] The Jersey Devil has worked its way into the pop culture of the area, even lending its name to New Jersey's team in the National Hockey League...
Loch Ness in recent times
With the summer almost upon us, can we expect more sightings to be reported from Loch Ness? The number of sightings of the Loch Ness creatures varies on whose work you read.
Some say as little as 2000 sightings since 1930's , some say as many as 4000. Since 2002 I can only find a recorded number of 20 sightings. It may be that people aren't reporting it any more of course or it may just be there are fewer sightings. Possibly less people are looking for anything, certainly there aren't the expeditions there used to be. I would have thought with modern technology there would have been more photos people had taken on mobile phones etc...
Online survey on parapsychological experiences
A request from Carlos S. Alvarado, Ph.D., from the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia: I am conducting an on-line survey to learn more about a variety of experiences many people have had in their daily lives. I hope your answers will help me determine how common these experiences are...
More haunted real estate
A real estate agent sold an old property in downtown Indianapolis to a metropolitan police officer. The agent, now retired, didn't expect the telephone call she received from the officer a few weeks later. "Did you know this place was haunted?" the policeman asked...
Levitating glass bead proves Einstein wrong
Albert Einstein said it couldn't be done, but now the velocity of a microscopic particle as it zigzags through air has been directly measured. The same technology used to make the measurement may eventually be used to force such beads to exhibit quantum mechanical behaviour that is normally seen in subatomic objects...
Europe had first pyramids claim
American author Paul Von Ward has backed a new campaign in Bosnia to have the "Bosnian Valley of Pyramids" given official recognition as the oldest and largest pyramids in the world...
