ActiveSync and Bluetooth
- Activesync is a program that allows Windows Mobile and Palm device users to synchronize data between their personal computer and mobile device. This includes updating calendars, email, task lists and files.
- Bluetooth is essentially a wireless connection that works only at very short range. It was developed by Ericcson, then adopted by most electronics manufacturing companies as the standard for short range connections between electronic devices. Most modern electronic devices, such as computers, cell phones and wireless headsets, now include Bluetooth capabilities.
- If you have a phone or other mobile device with both ActiveSync and Bluetooth capabilities and your computer also has Bluetooth, you can use them in conjunction to avoid the necessity of connecting to your computer via a USB cable.
- To use ActiveSync and Bluetooth together, you must first pair the device and your computer. Once that is done, configure ActiveSync to use Bluetooth on your mobile device and your computer. After this initial setup, ActiveSync will connect over Bluetooth automatically.
