How Can I Remove Mold?

    White Vinegar

    • 1). Fill a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar. Vinegar is an all-natural deodorizer that will kill mold and mildew without using harsh chemicals.

    • 2). Spray the mold with the vinegar and wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth. Mist the surface once again with the vinegar. Let the vinegar air dry on the surface.

    • 3). Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle to remove mold and musty odors from washable items.

    Oxygen Bleach

    • 1). Fill a bucket with 1 gallon warm water. Add 1 cup oxygen bleach and mix with a wooden spoon. Oxygen bleach is a safer alternative to chlorine bleach and will not discolor or damage surfaces.

    • 2). Dampen a clean sponge in the mixture and wipe the mold off the surface. Let the mixture sit on the surface for 10 to 15 minutes.

    • 3). Dampen a clean cloth with cool water. Wipe the oxygen bleach mixture off the surface with the damp cloth. Wipe the item dry with a towel.

    Borax

    • 1). Mix 1 gallon warm water with 1/2 cup borax thoroughly until the borax has completely dissolved.

    • 2). Submerge a nonabrasive nylon scouring pad into the mixture and scrub the mold off the item. Rinse the mixture off the item with cool water.

    • 3). Dampen a clean cloth in the mixture. Wipe the surface with the damp cloth leaving a thin layer of the mixture. Let the mixture air dry on the surface to keep mold at bay.
