How to Do Curly Baby Dreadlocks
- 1). Clean hair and scalp with a residue-free shampoo or soap. Your hair should be damp when you make the knots.
- 2). Re-twist two adjacent locks to tighten them. Apply a dollop of styling gel to your fingers, and working with one lock at a time, twist it clockwise from root to tip.
- 3). Twist the two locks together from root to tip.
- 4). Fold the two twisted locks down into a loop at the root. Coil and twist the remaining lock around that loop to create a coiled ball. If your locks are short, it won't be necessary to make a loop before coiling and twisting.
- 5). Tuck the ends of the locks into the base of the coiled ball. If necessary, use a hairpin to secure.
- 6). Re-twist, coil and secure pairs of locks until all the locks are formed into coiled balls.
- 7). Wait several hours or overnight to allow curls to set. The hair must be completely dry before you proceed.
- 8). Remove Bantu knots by gently pulling out each coiled ball. Finger-style the curls to your desire.
