  The transmission is a 5- or 6-speed constant-mesh type that is contained in an extension of the crankcase. The transmission permits the rider to vary the ratio of engine speed-to-rear driving wheel speed in order to meet the varying conditions of operation. The transmission is foot-operated by the gear shift lever, transmitting the force through a gear shifter shaft. According to Rask Cycle, baseline torque is calculated for an unplated, non-lubricated bolt.
  
  

Inspection Cover

• Tighten inspection cover screws to 40-60 inch pounds torque.
  
  

Transmission drain plug

• Tighten drain plug to 14-21 foot pounds torque.
  
  

Fluid level screw

• Tighten fluid level screw to 90-110 inch pounds torque.
