Samsung Instinct Review
So Yeah I jumped the bandwagon and got me one of the instinct touch screen phones on the Sprint network.
This phone is pretty nice.
The features are incredible compared to it's big brother the iPhone.
I'm gonna break it down in a few sections for ya and give my opinions Calls/Contacts: The call quality is great I personally have had no problems with calling.
My only issue is with the instant voicemail feature with this phone.
At times it seems as if there is a lot of hissing or distortion from listing to voice mails right from the phone.
The contacts are something to get used to.
Not being able to search a contact makes it difficult for me as I have a lot of contacts in my phone.
This is something that I see Sprint/Samsung being able to work on in the near future.
7/10 Messaging: I was disappointed to find out that there was no support as of now for instant messaging.
This is a downfall when trying to compete with the iPhone.
I have read though that there are ways around it in various forums.
The Heptic Technology is awesome.
A little vibration is what you feel when hitting a key on the full touchscreen qwerty keyboard.
I've had some issues with my friends not getting my picture messages and I have yet to figure this out.
I love the fact that all messages come in a threaded format so that you get the whole conversation on your phone rather then text by text.
6/10 Email: I'm impressed with the email on this phone, I was able to set up not only my home mail but also my work email (OWA) pretty much flawlessly with no issues what so ever.
And with the help of one touch buttons for setting up popular free email accounts on the phone such as Yahoo, Gmail, make the phone very likable as well.
8/10 Music/Video: The sound quality on this phone is very good in my opinion and having a regular headphone jack does the trick as well.
I've side loaded a bunch of album to this phone and was impressed with the music player and the ability to pick up my album art as well.
The video quality on this phone is lacking a little bit.
Sometime blocky but very nice for it being a phone.
Being able to watch YouTube videos on my phone is a big plus & the sprint TV network is very powerful as well with a lot of live content from NFL Network to MTV Live to latest sports & news updates.
8/10 Camera: This is the worst feature on this phone.
The picture quality is not up to par and with no flash it was not a steal with me.
The 2.
0 mega pixel camera is OK for on the fly picture capturing and the ability to one push button upload to photo bucket or the Famous Myspace website gives all the little girls something to put a tickle in their potty.
6/10 Browser: I wanted a little more from sprint on this but what they gave us is not that bad.
The mapping feature to browse around a web page and then bring the view in closer is very cool.
Also holding down the camera button while browsing and tilting the phone also moves the browser around which is very impressive.
Being on sprints new Rev A network is a plus as well as the speeds in my area have shown to be very promising.
Other: The navigation and live search features on this phone are my favorites on this phone.
Being able to search for the best gas prices in a one click fashion is awesome and the ability to not have to dial directory assistance to get a phone # is now obsolete.
The GPS on this one is another thing that makes it stand out.
Sprint I believe did very well with the navigation portion of this phone.
8/10 Although I have been a little negative on this one it's only because it's brand new and I believe that Sprint will find a way to fix these problems.
One of my biggest complaints is no active syncing with outlook calendar.
But I have found my own way around this and it only work with outlook 07.
