How to Trim a Wooden Medicine Cabinet
- 1). Measure one vertical side of the medicine cabinet, along the wall, using a tape measure. Transfer the measurement to a piece of trim, using a pencil. Don't measure from the end of the trim, but rather set one mark in a few inches from the end; then measure and place a second mark from there.
- 2). Place the trim on your miter saw, with the curved side facing out and the two flat sides sitting against the platform and the back rail. Line up one of the two marks in front of the blade.
- 3). Turn the blade to 45 degrees pointing outward, toward the end of the trim. Engage the saw and cut the trim.
- 4). Slide the trim to put the other mark in front of the blade. Turn the blade 45 degree to the other direction. Cut.
- 5). Set the trim alongside the medicine cabinet, on the vertical span where it meets the wall, so the curved surface is facing out and the two flat sides are tucked into corner that's formed by the side of the cabinet and the wall. The angled cuts should flare out over the ends. Secure the piece by hammer in finish nails every 8 or 10 inches. Sink the nail heads with a nail set.
- 6). Repeat the process for each edge of the cabinet. The angled cuts at the ends should meet to form each corner.
