How to Keep Blanket Edges from Curling When Machine Knitting

    • 1). Learn intarsia knitting. Using intarsia blocks is one good way to block curling. It may be a bit tricky to learn because of all the different yarns you will use. You need a ball or bobbin for every different block of color. Placing a different ball or bobbin on each block will keep the edges from curling.

    • 2). Put a couple rows of single crochet around the edges. It's a simple way to combat curling that should work. You can also crochet a couple lines along the long edges to keep the edges down. You would have to learn basic crocheting to do this.

    • 3). Try not to stretch the fabric while sewing.

    • 4). Use wet blocking to keep the corners down when machine knitting. Dampen but don't completely soak the edges on your blanket. Find a towel or cloth to lay it on, and then safety pin it to the shape you want it to be. Allow the blanket to dry, and it should be the way you want.
