How to Bend a Hollow Pipe
- 1). Measure the pipe and the area where you need to make the bend. Determine where the bend will start and end. Find the center. This is where you will attach the pipe bender.
- 2). Feed the pipe through the pipe bender. Pipe bender are tools that have a semicircular metal plate at the bottom of a four-foot pole. The bottom of the pipe bender is grooved to fit pipes of various sizes. There is a small loop that is tightened down on the pipe in the middle of the bend that will make it easier for you to perform a clean turn.
- 3). Clamp the pipe into the pipe bender in the middle of the bend. Place the pipe flat on the ground with the handle of the bender facing upward. Pull the bar toward you while stepping on the pipe. One end of the pipe will lift off of the ground. Use small motions to bend the pipe to the desired angle. It will take a few attempts to get it to stay in the exact bend that you want.
