How to Get Fit Fast
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1The basic formula for weight loss is to burn more calories than you take in per day. The best way to speed up your metabolism and burn more calories, even while resting, is to exercise. Sit down and write out an exercise plan that you can fit in to your schedule. Make sure to plan ahead with rest days (one a week) so you'll be more likely to stick to your plan. Many people start out gung-ho on an exercise program but don't get results because they get burned out and give up all together. Planning will prevent that.
2
Choose an exercise that you like doing because you will be more likely to stick to it. Running, swimming, dancing, hiking, walking, biking and working out on the elliptical machine are all great cardio exercises that will burn a lot of calories. Pick one to do six times a week for at least half an hour a day, or an hour if you want to lose weight even faster. If you are easily bored, try mixing it up and doing different cardio exercises on different days. See linked articles below for guidelines on creating a running plan.
3
Eat healthy. It sounds like common sense, but it is surprising how many foods we eat that have little to no nutrition and just pack on the pounds. Pay attention to labels and avoid eating out if at all possible. Most restaurants serve very high-fat, high-calorie, and high-sodium foods. Even a veggie sub at Quizno's is loaded with fat, so be sure to check out the nutrition information ahead of time if you do decide to eat out. See the link below for nutrition information on popular restaurants.
4
Drink lots of water to stay hydrated, eat lots of fruits, fiber-rich foods and fresh food. Avoid processed snack foods and stay away from desserts if you are really serious about losing weight. Try yogurt and fruit with granola or fresh berries for a tasty dessert or snack. Vegetables and popcorn also make great munching foods without a lot of calories.
5
Keep yourself motivated by posting up a photo of when you were thinner, or make an encouraging collage with words and pictures that inspire and motivate you. Remember, the harder you work, the greater your rewards will be for your health and image.
