How to Take Out Grout

    • 1). Put on leather gloves and a dust mask. Place a hand vac nearby for easy retrieval.

    • 2). Hold a grout saw onto the grout at a 90-degree angle, and press down firmly. Move the saw back and forth against the grout until the grout begins to break up. Do not move the saw against the tiles, or they may chip, crack or come loose.

    • 3). Periodically vacuum up the pulverized grout with the hand vac. Repeat sawing until all the grout between the tiles has been removed. This will take a lot of time and effort.

    • 4). Wipe the tiles with a wet sponge, cleaning away all grout particles left on or between the tiles. Let the tiles air-dry. You can then re-grout between the tiles.
