How to Keep Organized While Cleaning a Hotel Room
- 1). Assemble your cleaning supplies. Having all your supplies ready before you go into a room to clean ensures that you do not have to stop in the middle of your task and keeps you from losing track of what you were doing. Most hotels will have standard-issue cleaning supplies based on the type of furniture in the room, including bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, and furniture polish. You may also need new toilet paper rolls, clean linens, trash bags, and replacement toiletries. As you are cleaning, make sure to put each item back in the same spot after you use it. This will help you work more quickly, as you will spend less time looking for supplies on your cart.
- 2). Begin with the bathroom(s). This is usually the most complicated and involved part of cleaning a hotel room. First, spray the countertop, tub, and toilet with a disinfectant. While the disinfectant is working, clean the mirror; then wipe the countertop, toilet, and finally, scrub the tub. Replace toilet paper and toiletries, as needed. Remove dirty towels and replace. Empty the wastebasket. Finally, clean the floor.
- 3). Next, dust the room. Work around the room in a circle and from top to bottom. This method will help you keep organized by ensuring you dust all surfaces. Wipe all glass surfaces, as well, using glass cleaner. After dusting, remove all trash.
- 4). Replace all linens and remake the beds. At this time, replace any reusables, such as plastic cups, coffee filters, or pens, as necessary.
- 5). Vacuum the entire room. Start from the back of the room and make your way towards the exit. If the hotel room is a suite with multiple rooms, finish the room furthest from the door first, working your way towards the exit.
