You're photography business owner. You love your job. Your customers love your work. You also love your family - whom you never see, because the demand for their services has grown into a wonderful rate. You really do not want to turn away profitable business. It's a good problem to have. But it is still a problem. You decide to hire an assistant to help with the workload.

Your customers love you. They still love my assistant. You are faced with the problem of every photography business owner faces when they make their first hire - how to deal with real and perceived value of the difference between himself and his talented associates.

There is no one answer to this question. Any solution has its pros and cons. Your brand and reputation is at stake. Here are two suggestions on how to solve this problem:

First Lower for the work his associate photographer prices and raise prices for the work you're doing. Make clear to your customers that any work that makes your partner will be reviewed for you. It has some valuable results. Increased prices will increase profit margins but shoot, you finish it. Price increases will be broadcast on the increased reputation (as long as your work is really quite good). Many of your clients who can not afford their higher prices will decide to go with associates and your views.

The downside is that many customers will go to another company where they can deal with the main photographer. However, if price adjustments are correct, your profits should not suffer. Increased amount of light that allows you to make a link with their price increases to compensate for all the customers, who may decide to go elsewhere revenue.

Second Let your associate build your reputation (and you) with a specific area for business. For example, if you are doing weddings and senior portraits, divide the job responsibilities. Senior Associate to develop a portrait of the brand and you will be working with a wedding brand. One big advantage of this arraignment is your partner is more likely to appreciate his work.

You allow his head to create a brand, build a customer base and make a creative and strategic decisions. Your customers love you. They still love my assistant. You are faced with the problem of every photography business owner faces when they make their first hire - how to deal with real and perceived value of the difference between himself and his talented associates. If he has a talent and desire to grow is to have a real go at it.

Of course the disadvantage is that the employee may decide that he can do it all and make more money. He can take his clients with him.

There are no simple answers to the best way to expand the photography business. High-end photography services marketing is different (thank God) to sell widgets. It is much easier to extend the sales letters.
