    • 1). Start Photoshop, then click "File" and select "New." Enter the name for the graphic, such as "Channel10" or "GlowNews" in the "Name" field. Type the dimensions for the graphic canvas, such as "3" in the "Width" box and "1.5" in the "Height" box. Click the "inches" option for the two dimensions menus. Pull down the "Background Contents" menu, and click "Transparent," then click the "OK" button.

    • 2). Double-click into the "Color Picker" at the bottom of the "Tools" column. Choose a color for the main graphic. These colors don't glow automatically, but you'll find many bright, neon options. Click one, and click "OK."

    • 3). Click the paintbrush icon on the column. Click the second small drop-down arrow from the left on the toolbar across the top of the screen. Select the fuzzy dot brush head. Slide the "Size" bar to "20." Without clicking hover the cursor on the canvas, and determine whether it is appropriate size to draw the graphic. If not, adjust the "Size" slider.

    • 4). Position the cursor on the canvas. Click and drag the mouse to draw the graphic, such as the station initials, channel number, a round orb or an abstract design made of a few intersecting lines. For a multi-colored graphic, reopen the "Color Picker," choose a new color, click "OK" and add more designs.

    • 5). Click the icon of a tipping paint bucket on the "Tools" column. Click inside the design to fill it with color.

    • 6). Double-click the Background layer in the "Layers" palette on the right side of the screen. When the "New Layer" pop-up opens, click "OK." Double-click the layer again to open the "Layer Style" window.

    • 7). Click a check mark into both the "Inner Glow" and "Outer Glow" boxes in the "Style" column. Click either the "Inner Glow" or "Outer Glow" words to open that feature's window. Experiment with the options on the window, such as stretching the glow, changing the glow color and managing the brightness. Click "OK" when satisfied.

    • 8). Click the "File" menu, then click "Save As." Click the "Format" menu, and select either "GIF" or "PNG," which will let your graphic maintain its transparent background, required for using on the television screen. Click the "Save" button.
