    • 1). Go to the IRS website listed in references. Here, at the Small Business Center, you can read about the various types of taxes that different businesses have to pay.

    • 2). Go to the IRS forms website listed in Resources. Click on each of the forms that you need to fill out. Usually, you can fill them out in an online PDF format. If you have a choice, choose "E-File," which will guarantee that you can fill out the forms online and file them as well. Some forms might not have an E-File option. If a form does not open into a PDF that you can type into, the form needs to be printed out and sent in. Whether you E-File or send in a form, the form will have your identifying information on it, and it will all be credited to your personal account.

    • 3). Fill out the online forms required for your business. Choose E-File when you are finished to send the forms directly to the IRS. If the form has an E-File option, it will say so at the bottom of the form, next to "Submit." If there is no "E-file" listed next to submit, the form needs to be printed. If you need to print out any forms, fill them in with pen and send them to the IRS in the mail. Send each form to the IRS address specified on the form. Each time you fill out a form, you will have the option of E-filing it or printing it out.

    • 4). Check to see if you need to do any state taxes. Many states have online tax filing systems. Ask your financial expert about your state taxes, or contact the state directly to see if you need to file state taxes, and if so, which types of forms you need to use. The state treasury department will be a good place to start when looking for information.
