Air Force Basic Training Standards
- To achieve the liberator level, a male recruit must complete a 1.5 mile run in 11 minutes and 57 seconds, 45 push-ups, 50 sit-ups, and zero pull-ups. A female recruit must complete the 1.5 mile run in 14 minutes and 21 seconds, 27 push-ups, 50 sit-ups and zero pull-ups. The push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups use a one-minute time interval.
- To achieve the thunderbolt level, a male recruit must complete the 1.5 mile run in nine minutes and 30 seconds, complete 55 push-ups, 60 sit-ups, and five pull-ups. A female recruit must complete the 1.5 mile run in 12 seconds, 32 push-ups, 55 sit-ups and two pull-ups. The push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups use a one-minute time interval.
- To achieve the warhawk level, a male recruit must complete the 1.5 mile run in eight minutes and 55 seconds, 65 push-ups, 70 sit-ups, and 10 pull-ups. A female recruit must complete the 1.5 mile run in 10 minutes and 55 seconds, 40 push-ups, 60 sit-ups, and five pull-ups. The push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups use a one-minute time interval.
- Recruits must learn the Airman's Creed, the Chain of Command, Air Force Core Values and the Air Force Song. The most important phrase to learn is the core values, which an instructor ask recruits to recite: integrity first, service before self, excellence in all we do.
- The Air Force maintains weight standards for new recruits, with minimum and maximum weight requirements assigned to each height. A person 58 inches tall, for example, must weigh a minimum of 91 pounds and a maximum of 131 pounds, while a person who is 65 inches tall must weigh a minimum of 114 pounds and a maximum of 165 pounds.
