    • 1). Open Microsoft Word by double clicking on the icon located on the computer's desktop. Select the Home tab and type the name of your checklist. For example; Housekeeper's Checklist works in a pinch. Highlight the text and center it by clicking CTRL + E. Change the color and size of the font if needed. Move the cursor under the title of the checklist.

    • 2). Make a section for each room in the home. The kitchen, each bedroom, living room, bathroom and any other areas should have their own "box" on the checklist. For example; start with the kitchen by typing "Kitchen" directly under the checklist title. This is the subheading. Highlight the text and align it to the left by pressing CTRL + L.

    • 3). Move the cursor under the text. Click on the "Insert" tab, located at the top left-hand of the screen. Click on "Tables, "Insert Tables" and a small dialog box will appear that allows you to alter the number of columns and rows in the table. Click 2 columns and however many rows are needed. You can adjust the amount of rows in the future if needed.

    • 4). Place the cursor over the middle line separating the columns until the cursor changes into two lines with an arrow pointing from each side. This indicates you can adjust the size of the columns. When the cursor changes to two lines and arrows, hold down the left mouse button and move the cursor toward the left until it measures 1/2-inch. This creates the box for the housekeeper to checkmark when she completes the task.

    • 5). Click on the first row in the second column and type the specific job you want the housekeeper to perform in that room. For example; type "wash dirty dishes" under the kitchen section. Click on the second row in the second column and type the next task. Continue in this manner until you typed all tasks you want the housekeeper to accomplish in that specific room.

    • 6). Continue creating subheadings, inserting tables and typing the tasks in each row until you enter all the information for the housekeeper. Save the checklist by hitting CTRL + S. Print the checklist as needed.
