The eighth Academy Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, March 5, 1936 at the Biltmore Bowl of the Biltmore Hotel. Writer Dudley Nichols, the winner of best screenplay, became the first person to decline an Academy Award. The event was hosted by Frank Capra.
