How to Get Rid of Biting Insects in a House
- 1). Clean your house regularly and thoroughly, and maintain the area around your home as well. Garbage attracts insects, and standing water makes a good breeding ground for mosquitoes.
- 2). Spray insecticide around the outside of your house and other areas where bugs appear. The goal is to create a chemical barrier to keep insects from showing up on your kitchen floor.
- 3). Inspect the inner and exterior walls in your house. Seal any cracks to prevent insects from squeezing through.
- 4). Sprinkle boric acid or powder on the bathroom floor at night to kill crawling insects. Make sure to clean up this insecticide in the morning because it can be toxic to children and pets.
- 5). Hang fly strips in your house to catch flying pests.
- 6). Place lavender sachets in your bedroom, closets and wardrobes. The smell of lavender oil drives away bed bugs.
