Pharmacists' Role in Managing Male Urinary Incontinence
Pharmacists' Role in Managing Male Urinary Incontinence
It is difficult to determine accurate prevalence data for UI because of varying definitions and methodologies in the literature. In the United States, at least 20 million women and 6 million men experience UI during their lifetime. Although UI is much more prevalent in women, the prevalence between the genders is similar after 80 years of age. At least one-third of patients in community settings and at least one-half of those in long-term care facilities appear to have a form of UI. Elderly patients with UI also have a significantly increased risk of admission to a nursing facility.
