My Personal Take on Insanity - Insane is Right

Insane is right...
If you're looking for a workout that will REALLY push you to your limits, you may be thinking about Shaun T's Insanity workout.
I've got to say that it is absolutely brutal.
I haven't done all the Insanity workouts yet, I'm still finishing up my P90x workouts.
Just for "fun" I've been throwing in insanity on Cardio days If you want evidence regarding how brutal this workout is, just watch one of the workout DVDs without actually doing the exercises.
You'll notice guys and gals that look like they are fit and agile enough to be in a Beyoncé video, absolutely dead tired, wasted, have given all they had...
and taking breaks! Insanity is aptly named...
It is a series of insanely intense workouts.
The good part (yes believe it or not there is a good part), you get all this intensity in a fairly short workout (clock time).
For example: The Cardio Abs workout is approximately 15 minutes, including warm-up, but don't let the short time fool you...
it IS a workout.
Shaun T doesn't use a single "crunch" in the Abs workout, but pushes your Ab muscles to the limit using some moves he borrows from Yoga, and some moves he must have borrowed from drill sergeant in a bad mood.
If you can make it though without a break (Shaun T actually suggests breaks during the video) you have some great Abs.
Even though I personally can't make it though the entire workout without taking my "breaks" I found that the intensity really, and I mean really worked my abs.
I believe the secret is Shan T constantly stressing "form", rather than number of reps, if you concentrate on keeping you core firm, and performing the movements as close to how Shaun T instructs, you get a great abs workout without doing hundreds of reps.
The weird thing...
you feel the exercise hours after the workout is done.
I don't know of any other ab workout that I've ever done, where there is a kind of lasting impression.
You'll have taut abs for hours, even into the day.
The only caution I have about Insanity is there appears to be a fair amount of high impact moves involved.
If you have joint problems, or extremely over-weight I'd put Insanity on the shelf for a while.
There are a lot of good products, and you might want to start with a less intense program.
