Radiator: An Important Engine Component
A radiator is more than just a part of an automobile. It is an important component of an internal combustion engine. It plays no role in igniting fuel or running engine but still it is the most important part of an engine. What it does is it cools down the engine. An internal combustion engine generates high heat because it burns fossil fuel and there is no escape route for the heat.
The only way to cool an internal combustion engine is radiating heat through a coolant. A coolant is a liquid that can soak high heat and it is safe for engine components as well. But the coolant gets hot in the process. It comes into contact with engine heat and becomes hot. So the coolant needs to be brought out from the engine and cooled. There should be a radiator or a system to control engine heat. Coolant should be pumped in the engine blocks and then the hot coolant should be cooled down.
A frame of hollow tubes and two boxes on either end can help control the engine heat. Coolant can be flowed though hollow tubes to heating engine. Coolant can be filled in one of the box from where it can be pumped to engine blocks. The hot coolant can be drawn from the engine blocks and cooled by passing through hollow tubes. There can be a fan that can start automatically as soon as hot coolant starts flowing in the tubes. This is how an internal combustion engine is cooled.
This frame is a radiator. It can be made of cast iron or copper. It has no mechanical part, motor or electric wire. This part can work for years but the coolant can corrode the metal. This part needs to be changed from time to time. It is for the vehicle owner to keep an eye on the engine and its components. This frame is an important engine component. It should be changed but it is learnt that some vehicle owners choose to repair the part instead of buying a new one.
A new radiator can be expensive especially when it is a forklift cooling part. This is the reason behind forklift owners choosing to repair the cooling parts of their lift trucks. But little do they know that repaired parts can't work properly. They can buy aftermarket parts to save money. Aftermarket parts are as reliable as genuine parts are.
