    • 1). Determine the desired location for the hasp lock installation. Use a measuring tape to help determine the best height for the hasp installation if necessary.

    • 2). Locate the pivot pin on the hasp lock. Measure from the middle of the pivot pin to the center of the opening for the cam or locking eye hole with a measuring tape.

    • 3). Divide the measured length of the hasp in half to determine an installation point. Measure from the edge of the door back toward the center of the door at the desired height and mark the installation point on the door with a pencil.

    • 4). Hold the hinged half of the locking hasp against the door with the hinge pin centered over the marked installation point. Fold the hasp closed and place the cam or plate with locking eye on the door frame or opposite door. Align the hasp and cam or locking eye plate and mark the screw installation holes with a pencil.

    • 5). Remove the hasp and cam or locking eye plate. Drill pilot holes with a drill and small diameter drill bit at the marked screw installation points.

    • 6). Place the hasp back on the door and secure with screws and a screwdriver. Secure the cam or plate with locking eye to the opposite door or door frame. Close the hasp over the cam and turn the cam to secure the door. Close the hasp over a locking eye and insert a pad lock through the eye.
