Chashma Shahi or the Royal Spring is just 9 kmts from the main city. The garden was built in 1632 A.D. around a spring. The water of the spring is believed to have medicinal properties.

Pari Mahal is located near Chashma Shahi, on the top of the Zabarwan mountain range. It was established in the mid 1600's by Shah Jahan's son, prince Dara Shikoh.

Nishat Garden or Nishat Bagh is the second largest Mughal Garden in the Kashmir Valley. Located on the banks of the Dal Lake, the garden was built in 1633 by Asif Khan, brother of Emperor Jahangir's wife, Nur Jahan.

Shalimar Garden is the biggest Mughal Garden in the Kashmir Valley. It was built by Emperor Jahangir in the year 1619 for his wife Nur Jahan. It is now a famous public park.

Dal Lake is known as the 'Jewel in the crown of Kashmir'. The lake is divided into 4 basins by causeways: Gagribal, Lokut Dal, Bod Dal and Nagin (Nagin Lake). Both Lokut Dal and Bod Dal have an island in the center. You will find houseboats here and can also go on shikara rides.

Nagin Lake is part of the Dal Lake but is mostly referred to as an independent lake. It is a beautiful lake on the foothills of the Zabarwan hills. You will find houseboats here.

Shankaracharya Temple is located on the Shankaracharya hill (also known as Takht-e-Suleiman). It was built in 371 B.C. by Raja Gopadatya. From the temple one can see a beautiful view of the Srinagar city.

Hazratbal Shrine is a holy place for the Muslims. It is believed to have the hair of Prophet Muhammad. Hence its name, Hazrat (meaning holy) and bal (meaning hair). The shrine is located on the bank of the Dal Lake.

Khanqah-e-Molla (shrine of Shah-e-Hamdan ) is one of the oldest Muslim shrines in the city. It is located in old Srinagar, on the banks of river Jhelum.

Jama Masjid is a famous mosque in the old city. It was built in 1400 AD by Sultan Sikandar and later extended by his son Zain-ul-Abidin. This beautiful mosque has 370 wooden pillars and is an example of Indo-Saracenic or Neo-Mughal architecture.

Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara was built where the sixth guru of Sikhism stopped to preach while traveling through Kashmir. It is an important place of worship for Sikhs and is situated near the southern gate of Hari Parbat Fort in Rainawari.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden was built in 2006-07 by the then Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad. Situated on the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, at an altitude of 5600 feet, this garden is Asia's largest Tulip Garden. Best time to visit the garden is in the month of April during the Tulip Festival when all the Tulip flowers are in full bloom.

Kheer Bhawani Temple is situated 14 miles from Srinagar. It is a holy place of worship for the Hindus of Kashmir and the Kashmiri Pandits. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kheer Bhawani. The temple is constructed in the middle of a spring which is considered holy. The kheer (rice pudding) that devotees bring for the Goddess is offered in this spring.

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden was set up in memory of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the year 1969. Spread over an area of 80 hectares, it has numerous breeds of plants. There is also a lake in the garden where one can take a paddle boat ride.
