Hi, I'm Farm to Table Chef, Teca Thompson, at Tecathompson.com, and today we're talking about how to grow baby lettuce indoors. So I've started with four plastic pots. Plastic is better than porcelain because it doesn't absorb as much water and it won't take away from the lettuce. Also you want to make sure if you are reusing your pots to clean them out very thoroughly. That way you won't spread disease or bacteria. So I'm going to start with all purpose potting soil, about three quarters of the way up. I'm going to take my seed and I'm going to sew the seed right in the middle of the pot. And I'm going to always plant two seeds, that way we'll have the opportunity to thin the weakest one and let the strongest one grow, right in the middle there. Now these seeds are going to take about seven to ten days to germinate which means that is going to be the amount of time it will take for them to sprout and pop out of the ground. So they don't need direct sunlight when they are germinating but once they are out of the soil you'll want to make sure that they have partial sunlight all day long. So I'm going to water them in and you are going to set them in a warm place to germinate and then make sure that they have partial sunlight once they've germinated and keep them moist. And that is how to sew baby lettuce inside. I'm Farm to Table chef, Teca Thompson at Tecathompson.com. Thank you for watching.
