Please understand that you do not have to have an alter to meditate or pray. Some of us are taught to pray or meditate at the alter, however god can be accessed anytime anywhere, regardless of your situation.

Learning to meditate and pray through your minds eye is the most powerful thing a person can do.

With that being said having an alter is a powerful tool and space that will become an extension of our spiritual purpose and intention.

When setting up your alter there are no rules, your alter should have meaningful items on it that are special to you. Several suggestions are pictures of yourself or love ones.

If there's a special person or persons your praying for you can have there picture
or pictures on your alter, to help remind you to pray for them. If you are an energy healer if you practice special healing practices like deeksha or reiki, you can give the pictures reiki or deeksha. Healing properties in your energy will help the person or persons in the pictures you are praying for.

You do not have to know how to do reiki or give deeksha, simply praying from your heart can be the most powerful thing anyone can do we all have internal light.

Include spiritual tools such as crystals, herbs, flowers, and candles. If you would like to keep your spiritual tools private then make sure your alter has space under it for a basket or box that contains your tools.

A table with a shelf under it is fine, you can use a table cloth that is long and covers your table so no one can see what you have under it.

Go to a new age store or shop new age stores online to find spiritual tools that resonate with you.

I would like to take this moment to mention something that I believe is very important, many people who are spiritual feel as though people will judge them and not understand the tools that they resonate with, this can make you feel insecure and cause you to not really use the tools you resonate with.

Please try to not feel insecure, if you do this may be something you can start praying about.

just get a box with a lock on it, place it in a private place. Do not allow other people to stop you from having a healthy spiritual life.

Many of us have fallen victim to this, if you feel as though you should purchase a wand, for example you may feel insecure due to the preconceived ideas attached to it.

However a wand can be used to help point and direct your energy for prayer and healing. Wands can be used to yield energy into your scared place.

So you can understand how some of the tools you use may be looked at by others as strange be sure to keep your items private.

A bible depending on your beliefs is very powerful, I love reading and using the bible to help charge my prayers to god using the holy spirits powerful healthy spiritual energy.

Flowers are a great way to add loving energy to your alter as flowers naturally increase the energy in a room due to the natural properties in flowers. Any flowers will due they do not have to be expensive you can get flowers for a couple of bucks and this will help increase your spiritual energy in your sacred space.

When cleaning your alter you can make your own cleanser that is charged with your intention of cleaning and purifying your alter. New age stores have cleaner as we'll that is charged with cleansing spiritual intention.

Keep your alter area clean, this will help you keep your intentions and thoughts organized.

Remember to HAVE FUN!!! setting up your alter. Make sure it makes you feel good when you look at it, your minds energy will become connected to your alter you will find that the more you pray and use your alter the more connected you are to that space in your home.

You will be able to feel a different energy in that space in your home. Be sure to use tools that really resonate with you, so your alter is helping to support you in your spiritual life.
