Why You Should Consider Upgrading Your Furnace

This winter is a cold one for many parts of the country with lots of snowstorms and bad winter weather. When the snow is on the ground and the temperature is chilly, your furnace is probably hard at work in keeping your home warm. Unfortunately, this is likely raising your monthly bills significantly as you need to pay for the cost to your furnace to operate all the time in order to make sure your house doesnt get too cold.

While heating costs are an inevitable consequence of winter, there is no reason to make those heating costs any higher than they need to be. Unfortunately, many homeowners are left with unnecessarily high heating costs because they have older furnaces that are not very energy efficient and that dont work as well as they should. If you have an older furnace and you are upset about your energy costs, then it may be time to consider upgrading your furnace to a better and newer model.

Furnaces are not intended to last forever and if your furnace is old, then it may not be working as well as it should be. You can tell when it is time to upgrade if you find that your furnace is having problems. If it is running all the time to keep your house warm and still struggling, then it is time to upgrade to a newer model or at least look into repairs. If your furnace is making a lot of unusual noises that it never made in the past or if your energy bills are suddenly a lot higher than they have been in past heating seasons, then this can also be a sign that something is wrong with your furnace and that you may need to either repair or upgrade to a newer model.

Even if your furnace is not actively having problems that prevent it from working, you may still wish to consider upgrading to a newer, better and more energy efficient furnace. If you have an older furnace that is wasting energy and if you plan to stay in your house for any length of time, upgrading to a better and a newer furnace may be a plan that pays for itself over time. This is especially true if you are able to take advantage of any tax credits or incentives offered by your power company. Such incentives are often available if you choose an energy star or energy efficient appliance.

Upgrading can make a lot of sense because there have been a lot of advances in technology in recent years that have made furnaces run on less energy than those in the past. For example, if you have a single speed blower then you may wish to upgrade to a newer and more efficient furnace with a variable speed blower. These furnaces dont have to run their motor at full speed all the time when it is not necessary to do so and they can save a lot of energy.

A qualified HVAC company that specializes in heating and cooling can take a look at your current furnace and can explain to you whether an upgrade may be beneficial in saving on your energy costs.
