Established:

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) at California State University in San Bernardino, California was established in 1996 and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.

The Museum's permanent collection contains nearly 1,200 objects of ancient objects and contemporary art, with a major holding of "some 500 artifacts encompassing over 4,000 years of Egyptian history."


History:

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art was established in 1996 as part of the campus of the California State University in San Bernardino, California.

The Museum is undergoing a lengthy renovation during 2015 and its grand re-opening is scheduled for Fall 2015.

Museum's Conservation Department:

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art maintains a permanent collection, so it requires the services of an art conservator whose job is to preserve and restore artworks and artifacts for future generations.

Famed Artworks in Collection:

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art's permanent collection includes ancient artifacts and contemporary art.

Ancient Egypt is well represented with approximately 500 objects spanning 5,000 years from the Predynastic to Coptic Period. Objects include carved stone, bronze and wood statues, mummy masks and a coffin lid.

Ancient Mediterranean ceramics are also a key feature of the collection, with 30 ancient vases from the various cultures.

Asian ceramics include about 230 ceramic pots from around Asia, while African culture is represented by 100 ritual artifacts such as masks and headdresses from the sub-Saharan region of West Africa.

Nearly 400 works of Modern and contemporary art by famous western artists such as Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol are in the collection.
