• The Comcast basic cable offering provides access to the local over-the-air news and entertainment stations including CBS affiliate WBZ-4, WCVB-5 (ABC), WHDH-7 (NBC), WBPX-68 (ION), WLVI-56 (CW), WFXT-25 (FOX), WSBK-38, WZMY-50 and WMFP-62.
  
  

Children and Family

• Comcast's basic cable package provides access to three children and family stations including Boston's WGBH-2 (PBS), New Hampshire Public Television (PBS) and the GBH Kids channels.
  
  

Spanish Language

• The basic cable also provides access to three Spanish-language channels. These channels are WUNI-27 (UNI), WNEU-60 (Telemundo) and WUTF-66 (Telefutura).
  
  

Lifestyle

• Lifestyle components of the basic cable package are the Home Shopping Network, QVC, Trinity Broadcasting Network, WGBH Create and WYDN-48.
  
  

Public Access

• Salem's Comast basic cable subscribers are provided with access to three local access channels. These include cable channels 3, 15 and 16, which are the local access, educational access and governmental access channels.
  
  According to Salem Access Television, channel 3 features original programming produced in Salem and the surrounding communities, channel 15 focuses on educational television and channel 16 features mostly political and issues-based discussion including local meetings and election coverage. Alternatively, some of this programing is also available through the website of the Salem Government Channel.
  
  

Ordering

• The Comcast basic cable package may be ordered online through the Comcast online web portal or by calling toll-free at 866-928-9135. Customers may be required to pay an activation fee for each television that will be connected to the cable programming. As of 2011, the activation charge was $17.50 per television.
