How to Store Mink Coats at Home
- 1). Clean the mink professionally before storing it. This will remove any dirt or grime that can damage the fur over time.
- 2). Hang the coat on a large, wooden coat hanger. This will ensure that the mink coat will not lose its shape and that the coat has room to hang properly, allowing for proper ventilation.
- 3). Slip the coat in a loose silk or felt garment bag. This will protect the mink coat from dust particles.
- 4). Hang the mink coat in a cool, dry, well-ventilated closet. The coat should have at least 3 to 4 inches of space on either side of it while it's being stored. Crushing the mink coat or hanging it too closely to other garments will damage the mink.
- 5). Keep the mink coat away from any light sources, such as a window or a light bulb, because the heat can damage the mink. Sunlight causes the fur to oxidize and fade.
